This fairly new National Park is just far enough off I-95 that we never visited even though we drive up and down the eastern coast all the time. We finally made a point of visiting and caught the park just after a big rain. The park was flooded, but we hiked through it anyway. You can hike this park in one half-day, no problems. A medium-length boardwalk opens up the swamp for visitors. We caught the park flooded in a bad rain storm which was actually a wonderful sound experience as long as you are dressed for it. We stayed in a nearby State Park and drove in.
