This is probably the best National Park that very few people visit. If you are a fan of the Badlands, then come up and get some of North Dakota’s version. Wildlife abounds, and crowds do not. We camped outside the park in Sully State Park, which was very close to the entrance. It is dry camping with a pay showers and rudimentary toilets. It is also serenely located on the banks of the Little Missouri river. If you stay there, be sure to hike the Maah Daah Hey trail towards the Bully Pulpit Golf Course. Trust me, just do it. We also took a day to drive to the north side of the park (about 90 minutes away). We wished we would have brought our ebikes for that park. Motoring the park is fine, but the bikers were having the best of it. You can ride the whole road access in the North if you are a decent road biker (or have and ebike!).
