Foodies in Seatle

Our day began with a Super Shuttle ride to BWI with on time departure and early arrival into Seattle, The AirTran B737 was full but we had plenty of room in the exit row.

A quick 5 and a half hours later we landed in SEATAC and picked up the very nice Seattle Sound Link light rail into downtown Seattle just two blocks from our artist loft.

Our room is a nice loft in a building in the international district. There are 17 studios with artsy people coming and going. We share a kitchen and bath(s). Everything is super clean and comfortable. There is wifi and HBO so we can watch Game of Thrones finale (which we missed last night).

After dropping off our packs, we grabbed a bus to the tourist section of Seattle called Pike’s Place and met up with a group of 10 people at the Yellow Leaf Cupcake Company. Our tour guide and starving artist, Mark kicked off with a pancake and bacon cupcake as we ate our way through 8 restaurants and 20 dishes in 3 hours. Sheri’s favorite was a trendy pizza place called Serious Pie which was an award winning Tom Douglas place. The dish was a a roasted king trumpet and morel mushroom and truffle and cheese pizza from a wood fired oven (of course). Eric’s favorite place was the Icon Grille (upscale comfort food) which was steak and mac and cheese or possibly the Scotch Ale Kiltlifter with cheese at the Pike Pub and Brewing Company.

Wee wrapped at the Pike’s Place Market where we window shopped and checked out the views of the sound.

After checking out the market which hosts over 12 million visitors a year, we walked the couple of miles back to the international district and our loft. Time for Game of Thrones: early cab tomorrow at 6 15 am to the Clipper Ferry to Victoria.
